Barcelona

I got back from Barcelona on Thursday afternoon and was very tried, I just couldn’t wait till got back home.

Barcelona is such a vibrant city with such amassing building designed by Gaudi, graffiti art down alleyways, on shop shutters and on walls in the city. It is a bit like London but very different to the way the city is laid out. Like London it has like Trafalgar square with a big moment with loins around it, a gherkin building and from France it has an Arc de Triomf. Barcelona city is built upon a grid system in which all the roads are straight and parallel to each other unlike London. There are many smells in and round the city ranging from nice tapas restaurants to unknown smells. Yuck!
On the first full day we had there, we walked miles all over the city visiting most of the places to be including, Barcelona cathedral, La Pedrera, Sagrada Família, Torre de Collserola, The Arc de Triomf and many more.

The Sagrada Família is the best place to visit and you couldn’t come to Barcelona with out seeing it. There is soo much detail in the building, the writing, the statues and the shape of the building. Once inside there are massive stain glassed windows to allow light in and you can see the whole internal structure. From the out side looking up at the towers it doesn’t really look that high, but we queued up, to go up one of the towers where they have very tight spiral staircase while looking out of the little slits in the tower before reaching the top. This was for the faint hearted as people would get vertigo easy! Once you descend you can look all the way to the bottom down the spiral stairs.

On one of the days when got the metro to the base of the mountain and climbed to church at the very top were we could over look the whole city right the way to the sea! The view was so amazing to see and defiantly worth the climb. Next to the church was a little theme park with a few rides which was built in 1908. A few of us went on one ride to go even higher, but was quite scary as we didn’t feel very safe!

While being in Barcelona I have taken over 300 pictures and loads of textures that can be used in our projects.
